K-pop star J-Hope has ignited global media attention thanks to his appearance on a social media channel of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
In a video released on the Louvre's official Instagram account on March 25, the BTS member says hello and introduces his new single "Mona Lisa," saying "She's an inspiration." He sings parts of the song and in the next scene, Da Vinci's famous painting of the same name is shown.
The collaboration was the museum's idea. On March 18, the Louvre showed interest in the song by leaving a comment in photos themed on the song uploaded on BTS' official Instagram account, later extending an official proposal to shoot a video.
Released on March 21, "Mona Lisa" is about falling in love with an attractive person in a humorous manner. The lyrics say an individual's unique charm can win someone's heart, not outer beauty.
BTS' management agency Hybe on March 24 said "Mona Lisa" that morning topped the iTunes Top Song charts in 74 countries including Brazil, France and Japan and the Worldwide iTunes Song chart from March 21-25. The hit was streamed 3.8 million times on its debut day of March 21 to rank 12th in Spotify's Daily Top Song Global chart.
